Hi! We are Mike and Joscelyn and we are the husband and wife team behind Quality Craft West. We wanted to share a little about our story and how we came to be Quality Craft West.
Mike started in flooring at age 12, working with his father and uncles in gym floor refinishing in NYC. They worked in residential and other commercial flooring as well but sports floors were their specialty. Mike learned the ins and outs of running a family owned business, and developed a love for the craft of hardwood refinishing. When the family relocated to Florida, they continued to work in the trade, but, finding it difficult to break into the good ole boy system of the south, they turned their focus to high end residential and historical homes, and opened a showroom in Jacksonville, FL. Mike worked side by side with his father and uncle, learning sales and the customer development aspect of the trade. He continued with them until leaving to join the corporate world in 2012, obtaining a flooring specialist position with The Home Depot in Kona, HI. He quickly worked his way up the corporate ladder with The Home Depot, eventually becoming an Assistant Store Manager. After deciding it wasn’t the right place, he took a GM position with a national floor installation chain until returning to work in the trade in 2016.

Joscelyn grew up in Bend, OR and comes from a hospitality and customer service background, working in resorts and management. When she and Mike relocated to Kona, HI, she began working at The Home Depot and quickly moved into an installations manager position, working primarily in flooring, with special orders and installers. She learned the ins and outs of hard surface installation, and was very successful in troubleshooting product and installation issues. At that time she never guessed she would be working hands on installing and refinishing floors alongside her husband one day!

When Mike and Joscelyn relocated back to the PNW, they decided to work together in opening their own wood flooring company. They chose the name Quality Craft West as a special tribute to the family business back East, Quality Craft North!
